Abstract

Based on his experiences, Philippe will explain the gap between a maker prototype and a sustainable ecosystem that would match market’s standards.

Publishing a code under “FLOSS” license is a good start but it’s usually not enough for project sustainability, like grabbing some component for “free” will have a cost soon or later.

The opensource philosophy is to not reinvent the wheel, so your value will probably work on common base, but choose wisely!
What does this platform provide in term of terms of security, IP compliance? What is the cost of hardware enablement or just software maintenance ?

Talk will be illustrated with some demos from previous Automotive “CampOSV” sessions in Rennes, the Oniro project will be also introduced and how prototyping can be essential for the development of foundations of a bigger ambitious ecosystem.

Oniro project is a decentralized Operating system which aims to defragment software development by using the best components and practices already adopted by community and industry
(like Linux or Zephyr kernel and Yocto’s bitbake tool).

Starting by doing is a good way to learn, working alone can be quick but working together will bring you further.

Philippe Coval is a professional OpenSource Engineer,
who has been supporting FLOSS communities since late 1990ies. Over decades, he has contributed to many projects from Operating Systems (Debian, Tizen) to IoT frameworks (IoTivity, WebThings) and more.

He also advocated for FLOSS at various occasions (FOSDEM, ELC…), or shared proof of concepts online.
Currently contributing to the Oniro project he is always open for potential cooperation.

Abstract

Securing distributed and collaborative business processes that involve Industrial Internet-of-Things (IIoT) devices or services in a cross-organizational context is a challenging task. It becomes even more difficult when the involved parties do not trust each other completely. This keynote presents some real-world industrial use cases where there is a need to enforce cross-organizational business processes without a trusted third party and how state-of-the-art technologies and research addresses the problem.

About Prabhakaran Kasinathan

Dr. Prabhakaran Kasinathan is a research scientist at Cybersecurity Technology, Siemens AG, Munich, Germany. He is working in the field of IoT security since 2012 and he has published in security conferences such as ACM SIGSAC and ESORICS, and in IoT conferences such as EWSN and WiMob. His current research interests include internet-of-things (IoT) security, blockchain, and cloud security. He works in international and European Union-funded projects like “Cyber Security for Europe” – cybersec4europe.eu and “A Comprehensive Cyber-Intelligence framework for Collaborative Manufacturing Systems” – collabs-project.eu.

Vivatechnology 2022 – French German Tech Lab #startups #innovation

The GFA took part at Vivatechnolgy 2022 at the French German Tech Lab (booth C33, hall 1), from 15-18 June in Paris.
Over 100 startups, 12 academic and institutional partners, more than a dozen pitches, conferences and round tables on business opportunities, technological challenges and success stories of the French-German cooperation!

For us and our startups, Vivatech was a great success:

– 91,000 visitors gathered in Paris

About Marc-Oliver Pahl

Prof. Dr. Marc-Oliver Pahl heads the Chair of Cybersecurity for Critical Networked Infrastructures (https://cyberni.fr/) at IMT Atlantique in Rennes, France. He is an adjunct professor of Carleton University in Canada. Marc-Oliver also heads the IoT Smart Space research team (https://s2o.net.in.tum.de/) at the Chair for Network Architectures and Services at Technical University of Munich.

Marc-Oliver’s research focus is on a holistic approach to cybersecurity. He works on security-by-design, anomaly detection, human-in-the-loop, and automation. His goal is making cybersecurity manageable, resulting in highly resilient and reliable systems. Marc-Oliver publishes regularly in the network and service management and security communities.

The conference focused on ideas that seek to advance Digital European Sovereignty. For this purpose we brought together relevant experts from society, academia and industry. Overall the conference seeks to raise awareness on the topic of European Digital Sovereignty, and generate concrete solutions on future education, research, governance.

On the first day, we showed ideas for solutions to advance European Digital Sovereignty, especially presented by groups of students from all over Europe.

On the second day, we integrated politics’, academia’s and industry’s challenges with these ideas.

Abstract

The purpose of the keynote is to give the audience all the keys to understand the AWS cloud and the associated value proposition regarding information security. Guillaume will first introduce AWS and it’s peculiar vision of cloud computing. He then will explain how to build resillient and secure applications on AWS while presenting the key security principles of cloud security. Guillaume will talk about self-healing systems, high-availibity, serverless, managed services, defense in depth, network security and security at the age of agility.  At the end of the keynote, you will know most of the security fundamentals of cloud security and will be presented with one of the state of the art concept regarding information security in the cloud.

About Guillaume Neau

Guillaume is a military engineer that graduated from Ensta Bretagne in 2017. He supervised information security qualification operations of the military programe “scorpion” before leading the engineering team that designed the digital identity programme of France that lead to the renewal of the national identity card from 2018 to 2020. Guillaume worked and advised the French Minister of the interior before moving to AWS in August 2021. He designed the information security strategy for the olympics game of paris 2024 and contributed in the ellaboration of the Ministry of the interior strategic white paper. At AWS : Guillaume helps public organisations of France think, build and innovate in the Cloud. Guillaume’s main topic are cloud security, infrastructure as code and serverless engineering.

How the digital transformation is changing our lives

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown all of us the benefits of information technology. It allows us to work at a distance, to live at a distance, and most importantly, to keep in touch at a distance – with younger and older people, those closest to us, and even make new contacts.

Our society relies more and more on information and operational technologies. Examples include water, energy, heat and cooling supply, communications, healthcare, production and processing of goods, transportation, national security, banking, research and education, and food production.

What all these areas have in common is that they make intensive use of networked distributed computer systems. These systems can be attacked in many ways. This is no longer just a problem for computer “pros” because computer systems are essential to all of us. The effects of “cyber-attacks” range from power outages to the collapse of the health care or banking sectors.

How the digital transformation is changing our lives

The COVID-19 pandemic has shown all of us the benefits of information technology. It allows us to work at a distance, to live at a distance, and most importantly, to keep in touch at a distance – with younger and older people, those closest to us, and even make new contacts.

Our society relies more and more on information and operational technologies. Examples include water, energy, heat and cooling supply, communications, healthcare, production and processing of goods, transportation, national security, banking, research and education, and food production.

What all these areas have in common is that they make intensive use of networked distributed computer systems. These systems can be attacked in many ways. This is no longer just a problem for computer “pros” because computer systems are essential to all of us. The effects of “cyber-attacks” range from power outages to the collapse of the health care or banking sectors.

About Dominique Maisonneuve

Trained as a production engineer, he began his career in the automotive industry at Magneti Marelli. In 2005, he joined the Electronics activity of LACROIX where he led transfer projects between the French, Polish and Tunisian plants. In 2017, he took on the role of Smart Industry Manager to ensure the deployment of the 4.0 program in the company, support continuous improvement and encourage the exploration of new technologies.
