Lifelong learning on Industry 4.0
with Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)
Lifelong learning is a key requirement in today’s society. To cope with the resulting huge increase of learners, and to meet their individual requirements, Digital Teaching will be crucial. Within the German-French Academy for the Industry of the Future, we lift teaching to a new level by exploring and supporting the use of digital technology.
In order to reach a new level of teaching materials, the Institut Mines-Télécom (IMT) and the Technical University of Munich (TUM) work on guidelines for highly successful and efficient digital teaching. This includes a handbook on MOOC production and a handbook on running schools. On both we are currently working.
In addition, the GFA partners jointly produce MOOCs. For more info about the MOOC, get in contact with the MOOC managers of our institutions.
Currently three MOOCs are in the making with the GFA:
- Industrial Internet of Things Essentials (launch planned for autumn 2023)
- Cybersecurity (launch planned for end of 2023)
- Working in the Future (launch planned for end of 2023)
They extend our big existing portfolio of MOOCs at IMT and TUM.

Besides regular university students, our modules especially target professionals who want to improve their qualification on their job. For academia, we will leverage the use of digital elements in teaching. For the industry, a new quality of instructive materials will be reached by our label of quality.

Knowledge for Industry 4.0!
Our MOOCs are based on strategic topics for the Industry of the Future. We support the creation of digital teaching materials according to our research topics such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber-Physical Systems, Blockchain, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

By launching digital teaching modules, we want to create new collaborations between academic and industrial educators.

Via specialized trainings, professionals can adapt to new job requirements and improve their qualifications.
